Kubexer Terminal Help
How can we help?
Search the knowledge base or browse by category.
Install, connect a cluster, and find your way around Kubexer.
Tabs, split panes, find, command blocks, copy and paste, and shortcuts.
Terminal tabs
Open, rename, reorder, duplicate and close terminal tabs, and use the tab menu.
Split panes
Split a tab into side-by-side panes — the same host, a local shell, or another host from any vault.
Broadcast input
Type once and send every keystroke to all the panes of a split tab.
Find in terminal
Search the scrollback with match case, whole word and regular-expression toggles.
Clickable links
Open URLs printed in the terminal with ⌘/Ctrl+click.
Command blocks
See each command’s exit code, jump between commands, and copy a single command’s output.
Keyword highlighting
Colour errors, warnings and pod states in output — built-in rules are free, custom rules are Pro.
Mouse copy & paste
Copy on select, right-click and middle-click paste, and the paste-and-run guard.
Reconnect & ended sessions
What happens when a session drops, and how to reconnect in place with R.
Local shells and SSH terminals
Open a shell on this computer or an SSH session to a host, and where each one lives.
Shell prompt & root indicator
Pick a prompt style or build your own, with a symbol that shows # when you are root.
GPU rendering
Draw terminals with WebGL for smooth fast output, with an automatic fallback.
Command suggestions & shell history
Autocomplete from your past commands and browse every command you ran, per host.
Keyboard shortcuts
Every shortcut in one list, and the searchable shortcuts dialog in the status bar.
Encrypted vaults, hosts, identities, SSH agents, jump chains and access profiles.
Connection vaults
Encrypted containers for hosts and credentials: create, lock, unlock, recover and delete.
Vault sync
Sync encrypted vaults across your devices — end-to-end encrypted, per vault.
Hosts & groups
Add hosts, organise them in groups and tags, and duplicate or move them between vaults.
Identities & SSH keys
Reusable credentials — password, private key, certificate or SSH agent — that hosts borrow.
SSH agent & agent forwarding
Sign in with keys held by ssh-agent, 1Password or Bitwarden, and forward the agent to a host.
Import from ~/.ssh/config
Bring the hosts, keys, jump hosts and environment from your OpenSSH config into a vault.
Jump Chains
Reach hosts that only exist behind a bastion, using SSH ProxyJump saved on the host.
Known hosts & fingerprints
How host keys are verified on first connect, what a changed fingerprint means, and how to forget one.
Access profiles
Create Linux users limited to specific systemd services and apply, refresh or revoke them on many hosts.
Share an identity
Save an identity as a zip with the key and a README, usable with plain OpenSSH.
Host reachability
The icon on each host that tells you whether an SSH server is answering — before you connect.
Quick connect
Open an SSH terminal to any address without adding it to a vault first — or rdp:// for Remote Desktop.
Top-nav counters
The live terminal and port-forward counts in the top bar, and where they take you.
Browse remote files, transfer them, and edit text files in place.
SFTP file browser
Browse a host’s files in a tab, with keyboard navigation, a context menu and copy/cut/paste.
Uploads, downloads & transfers
Upload and download files and folders, copy between hosts, and handle name conflicts.
Remote file editor
Edit remote text files in an editor tab and save them straight back over SFTP.
Open in Terminal from SFTP
Start a terminal on the same host, already in the folder you are browsing.
Transfer speed in the status bar
Live Rx/Tx rates for SFTP transfers, plus the host stats beside them.
SFTP connection timeout
How long the file browser waits for a host before giving up, and when to raise it.
Port forwarding over SSH, remote GUI apps with X11, and Windows Remote Desktop.
Port Forwarding
Local, remote and dynamic SOCKS5 tunnels over an SSH host — and what the tunnel does not encrypt.
X11 Forwarding (Display GUI)
Open graphical apps from a remote host as windows on this computer — per host, with a one-time cookie per session.
Remote Desktop (RDP)
Connect to Windows computers in a tab — certificates, Standard vs Sharp display, experience and colour depth, keyboard, clipboard, jump hosts and RD Gateway.
Record terminal sessions, replay them, and export them as video.
Session recording
Record what a terminal shows — on demand, per host, or for every local shell.
Replay a recording
Play a recording back with a scrubber, speed control, skip idle and a searchable command list.
Export a recording as video
Render a recording, or part of it, to an MP4 or WebM video.
Recording settings & retention
Record local shells, and how long and how much recording data to keep.
Kubexy in the terminal, the AI MCP server, and command snippets.
Kubexy in the terminal
Bring your own AI key to ask about terminal output, get commands, or let Kubexy work in a tab.
Ask Kubexy for a command
Describe what you want in plain English and get one shell command on your prompt, ready to review.
Explain a failed command
Ask Kubexy why a command failed and get fix commands you can insert at the prompt.
AI MCP server
Let AI agents such as Claude Code manage hosts and drive terminal tabs through a local MCP server.
Command snippets
Save commands with fill-in slots and insert them into any terminal from a palette.
