Replay a recording
Play a recording back with a scrubber, speed control, skip idle and a searchable command list.
Replay a recording
Watch a recorded session back exactly as it appeared, at the size it was recorded, with a timeline of the commands that ran.
Find a recording
Open Session Recordings from the top bar. The list shows each recording's host or shell, length, size, command count and failed commands.
- Search hosts and commands finds recordings by host name or by any command run in them.
- Filter by Vault, Host and a From date range, and Clear filters to reset.
- Load more fetches older recordings.
Each row has Play, Export .cast (asciinema), Export video (MP4)… and Delete.
The player
Click a recording to open it. The player shows a read-only terminal, in your terminal theme and at the size the session was recorded, with a transport bar underneath.
- Play / Pause — Space.
- Back 5s / Forward 5s — ← / →.
- Restart — back to the beginning.
- Speed — 0.5×, 1×, 2×, 4× or 8×.
- Skip idle — shortens every pause to at most 1 second, so long waits don't drag. The timeline follows the shortened time.
- Fit shrinks the text so the whole recorded screen fits. 1:1 uses your terminal font size and scrolls if the screen is wide.
- Copy screen, or Copy selection when text is selected.
The clock shows the playback position and the time of day it was recorded.
The scrubber and command list
- Drag or click the scrubber to jump anywhere. Ticks above it mark each command, and failed commands are red. Hover a tick for the command, and click it to jump there.
- The command list beside the player shows every command with its exit code. Filter commands narrows it, and clicking a command jumps to it.
No commands listed? They come from Kubexer's shell integration, so a shell without it, or a full-screen app, records output only.
Live recordings
A recording that is still running is marked Live — still recording. Play to the end and the player shows Following live, tracking new output as it arrives.
Export and delete
From the player header: Export .cast saves an asciinema file, Export video… renders a video (see Export a recording as video), and Delete removes the recording. Deleting a live recording also stops recording that session.
